School of Statistics soon to see construction

(July 11)—Groundbreaking ceremonies for the UP School of Statistics’ (UPSS) building were held July 10, auspiciously marking the School’s 60th anniversary.
The UPSS building will rise beside the National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education opposite the offices of the University Registrar and Admissions along Quirino St.

The building will be up to a 4-story complex that will be constructed in two phases. Phase 1 will house the classrooms, library, computer laboratories, conference rooms and faculty rooms. Phase 2, on the other hand, will accommodate additional classrooms, training rooms, discussion rooms (for graduate students and study groups), research support facilities, two 150-seater lecture halls, a 400-seater auditorium, student area and cafeteria.
Organizing the rites were UPSS faculty officials and staff led by Dean Erniel B. Barrios, Dr. Ana Maria L. Tabunda and Prof. Josefina V. Almeda.
