OVCRD Colloquium to feature UP Diliman’s Research, Creative Work and Extension Centers

The Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Research and Development (OVCRD) is pleased to invite the UP community and the public to the  Paliwanagan sa UP Diliman-OVCRD Colloquium 2013 to be held  on 21 January 2013 (Monday), 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at the National Institute of Physics,  National Science Complex, UP Diliman. This is the third colloquium organized by the OVCRD under the theme Paliwanagan sa UP Diliman. Paliwanagan is a biannual event that aims to promote the research and creative work initiatives of UP Diliman constituents.

Unlike the past colloquia that featured individual researchers and creative workers, the January 21 Colloquium focuses on UP Diliman’s centers for research, creative work, and extension service.   The Colloquium provides a rare opportunity for the UP community to hear directly about research, creative work, and extension activities of the various centers in the campus.  Fifteen (15) such centers, coming from different academic disciplines, will discuss one of their current projects during the main Colloquium program.   Two special sessions will tackle vital University concerns: extension service and mentoring. In addition to the 17 oral presentations, a preliminary inventory and profile of 104 UP Diliman centers, institutes, laboratories and studios undertaking research, creative work and/or extension activities will be launched. Copies of the inventory will be distributed during the Colloquium.

The Colloquium also includes an incentive scheme in support of the research and creative work initiatives of UP Diliman units. Units could avail of additional funds for research/creative work initiatives or for research dissemination grant allocation depending on their participation in the Colloquium. We request that the attendees to pre-register by email (upd.ovcrd.rduo@gmail.com) by 17 January 2013 and provide the following information to secure their accommodations:

·        Sector (e.g. faculty, REPS, graduate student, undergraduate student, staff)
·        College/Unit and Department
·        For graduate and undergraduate students: a) degree program and b) faculty adviser
