UPD inks academic partnership with CNU

(August 22) — The University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD) signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Chungnam National University (CNU) of Republic of Korea on August 17 at the Office of the Chancellor in Quezon Hall.

UPD was represented by Chancellor Caesar A. Saloma, while CNU was represented by its president Dr. Sang-Chul Jung.

Both universities agreed to establish institutional links to develop cooperation and promote mutual understanding through activities in academic areas of mutual interest such as exchange of faculty, researchers, research and administrative staff and students; collaborative research projects; lectures and symposia and exchange of academic information and materials.

As stated in the MOA, both parties agreed that in the event of research collaboration leading to patent rights, copyrights or other intellectual property rights, a further agreement must be negotiated in each case in accordance with policies of the two universities on intellectual property. Both universities shall seek an equitable and fair understanding as to the ownership and other property interests that may arise.

Witnesses to the MOA signing were Dr. Ronald Banzon, UPD Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Dr. Jae-Young Cha, CNU Vice President for International Affairs.
