(Jan. 29)—Professor Rosa Maria Icagasi, retired College of Arts and Letters (CAL) professor, passed away on Jan. 21. She was 77.

Icagasi was a faculty member at CAL’s Department of Art Studies when she retired on June 16, 2003.

A poet, a painter and a composer, Icagasi taught in UP Los Banos; UP Manila, where she served as Division of Humanities Chair (1973-1974) and UP Diliman, where she served as Assistant to the CAL dean (1986-1987).

Her research interests included images of women, the lost of art of betel-nut Containers, Pangasinan Literature and the Arts, among others.

Icagasi earned the AB English from UP (1960); the MA in Humanities from the University of Chicago (1969) and MA in Spanish from Instituto de Cultura Hispanica, Madrid, Spain (1976). —CAL Department of Art Studies
